20 best Supernatural characters ranked from worst to best
By Mark Lynch
11. Jack
Actor: Alexander Calvert
"“But I learned from you and my mother and Castiel that… when people have to be their best… they can be. And that’s what to believe in.” -Jack"
At first, Jack wasn’t going to make the list. That would have been blasphemous. His character development was superb. He went from annoying and useless to saving the universe and becoming God. It may have taken a while, but the journey was worth it. He became all of the best things that made Dean, Sam, and Castiel great.
10. Gabriel
Actor: Richard Speight
"“What you guys call The Apocalypse, I used to call Sunday dinner.” -Gabriel"
Initially, he went by Loki, the God of Mischief. Eventually, viewers discover he’s one of the four Archangels named Gabriel. The funny thing is Loki was a more appropriate name because tricks were his most powerful tool. It wouldn’t be shocking if he faked his death. Even Lucifer can be fooled and Gabriel is the king of fooling people.
9. Rowena
Actress: Ruth Connell
"“I am a flawed, petty, evil creature, Samuel, and I don’t know if I can be redeemed. But I have to try.” -Rowena"
Intelligent, beautiful, deadly, manipulative, and powerful. All of these and more describe Rowena. There was never a point in the series where she was out of it. Even when she was in imminent danger, it never seemed crucial. Fans knew that she’d find a way out of any situation. Having her become the Queen of Hell was brilliant. She’s the perfect person to be in charge of damned souls. It was both a punishment and a promotion.
8. God/Chuck
Actor: Rob Benedict
"“I’m not hiding. I’m just done watching my experiments’ failures.” -God"
There were zero redeeming qualities about God/Chuck. Manipulating and watching the possible apocalypse occur was bad enough. But Chuck didn’t stop there. After boredom or narcissism kicked in, he destroyed multiple Earths so he could start over.
Let’s not forget the way he treated his creations. There’s a reason why Angels, Leviathans, and others hated him. He’d create them and cast them aside. Then he’d blame them for being failures. Chuck living the rest of his life as a mortal is a fitting end to his chapter.
