Stranger Things
The wait is almost / nearly / unbelievably approaching its end as the fifth and final season of Stranger Things is on the horizon. The juggernaut Netflix series has been slowed down by two major delays in its decade-long lifespan, which explains why it has taken that long to produce five seasons. But it almost seemed as if one of those delays would not happen, for after the three-year wait for the fourth season due to the pandemic, the fifth was expected to come much sooner.
That did not happen, however, as the fifth season began production shortly before the WGA and SAG strikes took effect, meaning that all filming had to cease until it was finished. Now, production has been underway for a whole year, highlighting just how larger-than-life the Duffer Brothers' phenomenon plans to go for its final outing. And we honestly wouldn't expect anything less from Stranger Things.
It's somewhat crazy to think about where the characters could be when season 5 picks up the story. A time-jump is expected, but when a giant portal to the Upside Down has been ripped open in Hawkins, that's not exactly the kind of thing you can just skip over. How will the series explain that, and what does Vecna's army have in store for Eleven and her friends as the final showdown looms? And will it be scored by a Kate Bush classic?!
As filming on season 5 is still ongoing, we likely shouldn't expect season 5 of Stranger Things to premiere until Summer at the earliest, but we also wouldn't be surprised if it was saved for a fall premiere instead. We know that Netflix will be going big on this one, and there is no doubt about it that it will be a momentous occasion when the show comes to an end. A sad one, but a momentous one nonetheless.
