What you need to know

If anyone could really use a solid third solo movie, it’s Thor. Not only has he had the most lukewarm reception to his first two adventures compared to Iron Man and Captain America, but he’s being left out of Captain America: Civil War. The title of this movie is promising — Ragnarok is the name of the mythical twilight of the Norse gods — as is the inclusion of Ruffalo’s Hulk, as it implies the stakes must be massive indeed.

Waititi is the sort of talented but unproven director Marvel loves to tap, and Hiddleston’s Loki remains the most compelling villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are plenty of questions here, but it wouldn’t be wise to bet against this becoming the best movie in its series.
