Bam Smack Pow

15 Marvel movies we need to see after the events of Avengers: Endgame, including The Ultimates, Shuri, Hawkeye and more.

It’s been over ten years, but Avengers: Endgame will end the era that started with Nick Fury telling Tony Stark about the Avengers Initiative (Iron Man 1). It’s certain that after Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be changed forever.

It may sound cliché, but it’s also true. Fans have theorized major changes like this will be the last time we see Tony Stark and Captain America. We also don’t know what’s going to happen to the rest of the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, or S.H.I.EL.D.

One thing is certain, this will lead to new heroes, villains, and stories for Marvel to tackle. Watch the trailer, and as much will be revealed.

Marvel Comics is full of characters and stories that have yet to be used in a movie. With the acquisition of the 20th Century Fox Marvel properties, there are even more projects that can be made.

While it may take a while to get to stories like Avengers VS X-Men, Captain Marvel and Rogue having their infamous encounter, or Doomwar there are definitely movies that we could see sooner than we think.

With popular heroes that have been debuted like Deadpool (thanks, to the 20th Century Fox deal) and villains that haven’t like Kang the Conqueror, there are dozens of ways Marvel could go. Here are 15 Marvel movies that we need to see after Avengers: Endgame.

15. Shuri and Okoye

Black Panther was a success before it hit the theaters by smashing pre-sale records. It was a bigger hit once it debuted in theaters. One of the best aspects of the movie were the women of Wakanda. They may not have been the stars, but they stole the show. Among those amazing women were Shuri and Okoye. These two even had great moments in Avengers: Infinity War around characters that are larger than life.

Shuri isn’t the fighter that T’Challa or Okoye are, but she made up for it by being a genius. Even then, when it came to getting into the battle, she strapped on her gauntlets and joined the battle for Wakanda. Okoye stole the scene whenever she popped on-screen by being an amazing presence. She was smart, though, and had the best one-liners in Black Panther. She also took no guff from anyone.

This could be the story of how Shuri becomes the Black Panther. He may be a hero, but he still has duties as a king and most likely as an Avenger as time goes on. Someone will have to protect Wakanda. Okoye wouldn’t accept the duties because she has a job to lead the Dora Milaje. Shuri may be hesitant in the movie, but this could be her destiny, especially with Okoye training her to be the next Black Panther.

14. Hawkeye(s)

Before becoming a hero, Kate Bishop was attacked and brutally beaten. She decided to learn to defend herself. She trained and eventually became the force we see in the comic books.

She was a Young Avenger for a while but eventually joined Clint Barton (who encouraged Kate to keep the Hawkeye name). The two of them worked together on more than a few missions. As time went on, Kate Bishop more than proved how good she is, so much so that she is the leader of her own team the West Coast Avengers.

In Avengers: Endgame, Clint Barton has abandoned his Hawkeye gimmick in favor of the deadlier Ronin persona. As of now, we don’t know if Clint is going to survive Endgame. Whether he does or doesn’t, Kate Bishop is the perfect replacement. She has all of the skill with an arrow that Clint does. What she provides is a younger Hawkeye and a new face for the MCU.

If Clint survives, he could train her to be his replacement or just working by his side. If he dies, Clint could be shown in flashbacks working with Kate to be his replacement. The MCU’s Clint Barton is aware he’s playing a dangerous game and likes to be prepared. Especially since the Avengers: Endgame trailer dropped and it looks like he is training a new Hawkeye.

13. The Ultimates

We already know that there are going to be some major changes to the MCU after Avengers: Endgame. There may be some deaths. People may leave the Avengers, and the battle with Thanos will cause the heroes to approach things differently. It may be time to retire the Avengers and bring in a different kind of team. The Ultimates should be the way to go.

Leading up to the Ultimates, the Avengers would be different, but change is a good thing, especially since this team has different ideas in mind. The Ultimates don’t wait around for problems to happen. They solve them before they become issues. Not only does this franchise add a new team to the MCU, it also brings in some of the most underrated and appreciated characters in Marvel Comics.

Black Panther and Captain Marvel are joined by three heroes that may not be known by the casual fans: Monica Rambeau (who was the young girl in Captain Marvel), Blue Marvel, and America Chavez.

Monica Rambeau is an incredibly powerful hero with a very direct personality that fits this team well. Blue Marvel (Adam Bernard Brashear) is a Reed Richards-level genius who has knocked out a Hulk.

Last, but certainly not least, America Chavez is going to be the most popular character in the MCU once she’s introduced. Her powers, personality, and skill are too impressive for her not to be. The Ultimates would be an instant success.

12. She-Hulk

Jennifer Walters was just a regular lawyer until she was shot by a mobster and needed a blood transfusion. The good news was Jennifer’s cousin was with her when she was shot and he was a match.

The bad news is her cousin is Bruce Banner, the Incredible Hulk. Since Bruce’s blood was tainted with gamma radiation, Jennifer became a Hulk just like her cousin. Except when she transformed, she maintained all of her intelligence. Jennifer eventually became a member of the Avengers, Defenders, and the Fantastic Four. She’s more than just a Hulk. She’s a brilliant mind and one of the toughest Avengers.

It’s taken too long for Jennifer Walters to be part of the MCU. There hasn’t even been a mention of her from Bruce. You’d assume at some point Bruce may have said, “I have a cousin I can trust” or something along those lines.

After Avengers: Endgame, there will be some new members to Marvel’s premier superhero team. If Bruce Banner or the Hulk aren’t going to be on the roster, it would be cool to have a different Hulk. Especially one that maintains all of their intelligence and has a better personality while they’re hulked up. Jennifer Walters’ She-Hulk story could be a solo movie that could involve the Hulk making the transition smooth.

11. Bucky becomes Captain America

It’s more than likely that Steve Rogers won’t be Captain America after Avengers: Endgame. He could die, need a break, or become an older version of himself like in the comics. Regardless of what happens, it’s not likely that Chris Evans will be an Avenger going forward. This means that the MCU will be in need of a new Captain America. Rogers’ best friend Bucky Barnes is the perfect pick to fill that spot.

In the Captain America series written by Ed Brubaker, Bucky was brought back into the Marvel Universe. After Steve Rogers was shot and thought to be dead (Death of Captain America), Bucky eventually took the mantle of Captain America. Bucky already knew how to use the shield better than anyone alive, had some of the same morals and values that Steve Rogers had, and was actually Steve Rogers’ pick to replace him (he wrote a note to Tony Stark in case he died).

Sam Wilson and Bucky have a TV series coming up and this is the perfect opportunity to put Bucky in place to be the new Captain America. A movie putting Bucky in place sets up the series perfectly. Captain America in the title of a new Marvel project is going to get noticed. Plus, Bucky is a different kind of Captain America. For example, Bucky curses and carries guns. In a world that will be changing, Bucky is the perfect fit to be the new Captain America.

10. Jessica Drew

Jessica Drew has one of the more tragic stories in Marvel Comics.  She was poisoned as a child after long exposure to uranium, tricked into working for Hydra, gained powers only to lose them, left S.H.I.E.L.D., abducted by Skrulls, and became the face of their invasion.

Despite all of that, Jessica Drew still kept herself together. She became an Avenger, crucial agent of S.W.O.RD. (think S.H.I.E.L.D. but in space), and helped saved the multiverse along with the other Spider-People

Beyond Jessica Drew having an origin story that people would get into, Jessica Drew is awesome. She’s one of the best spies in the Marvel Universe, more courageous than some of the best superheroes, and is a perfect fit for any kind of project in the MCU.

She doesn’t need to be an Avenger. She could be the super spy of the MCU. The spy genre could be a new set of movies to tackle and Jessica Drew is the right person to get it started. It doesn’t have to be the typical secret agent movie. Getting someone like Abigail Brand or Carol Danvers with Jessica could kickstart Agents of S.W.O.RD. where they could chase alien threats on Earth.

9. The Hood

Parker Robbins was a two-bit criminal, and a bad one at that. One fateful day, he acquired (by shooting a demon in the head) a cloak. This cloak gave him powers he could only dream of.

As time went on Parker discovered he could amazing things like turn invisible, shoot energy bullets from his gun, and teleport. Had Parker been more disciplined, he probably could have been more powerful than he realized. This came with a caveat. The cloak made him susceptible to being controlled by Dormammu, one of the most feared beings in any universe. He once tried to take the cloak off and Dormammu hurt him bad. Parker then realized he was stuck with Dormammu and the cloak.

Dormammu was banished from the Earth realm by Dr. Strange in his first MCU movie. We all know that there’s no way that this lasts forever. Bringing in Parker Robbins is the perfect solution to this. Not only do we get to see a real fight between Dormammu and Dr. Strange, but we may also get The Hood as a crime boss. Parker could also be the one who organizes his own group of villains to fight the newer Avengers. In the comics, The Hood was a pain in the butt of Luke Cage’s Avengers. No reason to believe he couldn’t be a problem for Carol Danvers’ Avengers in the future.

8. Brother Voodoo

There was a time in the comics where Dr. Strange relinquished his title of Sorcerer Supreme. He felt he was arrogantly using his powers and wasn’t worthy of the title. The Eye of Agamotto then selected a worthy successor and it was the Lord of the Loa Jericho Drumm a.k.a. Brother Voodoo. The Eye picked him over Dr. Doom, Wiccan, and a ton of other sorcerers. This just shows how skilled and powerful Jericho Drumm is.

Jericho may not be that well-known, but he’s been around since 1973. Like with Luke Cage, there wasn’t a lot of effort being put into his character for years. It wasn’t until Brian Michael Bendis got a hold of him and made a genuine attempt to make him more than just a guy who knows the mystical art of Voodoo. Once that happened, he became the Sorcerer Supreme, later became part of the Avengers Unity Squad, and will be on the Savage Avengers team starting in May.

Brother Voodoo could also start Marvel’s horror movie franchise. The good thing is the movies don’t need to be rated R. Movies like Insidious, Happy Death Day, and A Quiet Place were all successful horror flicks with a PG-13 rating. This may not be the franchise for children, but both Deadpool movies and Logan have shown us that there is money to be made in movies for adults. Really getting into the lore of Voodoo and making it suspenseful would be a success.

7. Karla Sofen

You’d be hard pressed to find a more deplorable person in Marvel Comics. Karla Sofen was a psychologist that took pleasure in manipulating her patients. Karla used her skill as a master manipulator to gain her powers. She made the original Moonstone feel so bad that it caused his body to reject the Moonstone that gave him his abilities. Karla absorbed its power and thus the new Moonstone was born. Karla Sofen went on to be a Thunderbolt (they’re essentially the Suicide Squad minus a great leader like Amanda Waller) and one of Norman Osborn’s Dark Avengers.

Captain Marvel needs a worthy villain. Not just someone who matches her in power alone; she has to have an antagonist that can combat her on an intellectual level as well. Moonstone has super-strength and durability, the ability to phase her body, flight, and energy blasts. Their fight could be legendary since they’re so evenly matched and Moonstone’s banter during their fight would be epic.

Plus, Moonstone’s debut could lead to the Dark Avengers project that was pitched. More than all of this, Karla Sophen is a disgusting human being and could be one of Marvel’s greatest villains. She’s not like Killmonger or Thanos who may have good intentions. Karla Sophen is selfish and the MCU needs more evil villains.

6. Storm origin story

The story of Ororo Monroe starts with tragedy before it ends with greatness. Ororo lost her parents at a young age. As they died, she was trapped under a ton of rubble that led to the claustrophobia she still struggles with. She spent a good part of her life wandering Africa and became a master pickpocket under the tutelage of Achmed El Gibár. After she left his guild, she was attacked, and she kills her attacker. She then vowed to never take a life.

Things eventually started to look up for Ororo. After she gained her powers, she was taught how to use them and became known as a goddess in many parts of Africa. She later became one of the most popular X-Men and recognized heroes in all of pop culture.

The world has been waiting for a proper Storm project for almost two decades. An origin story could give fans a more in-depth look into the character. She’s more than just a woman who controls the weather. She’s a proud African who had to go through Hell to be looked at as a goddess. Doing this story before the X-Men cold show fans that they recognize the X-Men are more than just Wolverine. We’ve yet to see how Alexandra Shipp will do in the next X-Men project. If she has more screen time she could be the Storm we’ve been waiting for.

5. Norman Osborn

Norman Osborn is a crucial part of the Spider-Man mythos. He’s responsible for the death of Gwen Stacy (who Peter Parker may have loved more than Mary Jane). He had Peter’s Aunt May kidnapped and held in a coma-like state in a grave (Marvel Knights Spider-Man), and even went as far as putting a fake Spider-Man on his Dark Avengers team.

Norman goes out of his way to make Peter and Spider-Man’s life a living Hell. It didn’t change after the events of One More Day. Spider-Man: Homecoming didn’t mention Norman and Spider-Man: Far from Home isn’t using him as a villain. This is a phenomenal idea.

Norman Osborn isn’t a character that should be rushed. Pushing for him too soon could ruin what would be a classic rivalry in the movies. Even after Spider-Man, Norman should be a major player. In the comics, Norman went on to be one of the most powerful men in the world. He ran H.A.M.M.E.R. (Norman’s version of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and his own Avengers. Norman could be a villain whose evil spreads across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He may be a crazy man who has a tendency to lose control due to the Goblin serum running through his veins, but that’s just part of his charm. Like Karla Sofen, Norman Osborn could send the MCU into a new direction where villains are evil and not likable.

4. Domino

Domino popped on the movie scene in Deadpool 2 and was an immediate success. She was every bit as quick-witted as Deadpool and despite not having flashy powers, they worked on-screen.

The movie crew did an amazing job showing what her powers look like without it coming off cheesy. She was also a great fighter who could challenge Cable and destroy any nameless henchman that got in her way. A debate could even be made that she was the best part of the movie. One thing is certain, Zazie Beetz’ version of Domino will remain a must in the next MCU phase.

At the end of Deadpool 2 (it’s been almost a year, so spoilers are OK) Domino mentioned that she was raised in the same orphanage that Rusty was being tortured at. She briefly mentioned that she hated that place for the same reasons. A movie starring Domino cold get into her origin since it was only briefly mentioned in Deadpool 2.

While it would be great to see Deadpool in her movie, he isn’t needed for more than a cameo if that. Zazie Beetz has enough presence to carry this movie all by herself. Also, the character became so popular that people would flock to see it. But, for the love of Odin, keep it rated R.

3. Moon Knight

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of wholesome characters. Even though Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Captain America have done their fair share of killing, they’ve had a bit of a rebrand. Even Tony Stark isn’t the man he used to be. Making the characters more appealing to the family market is great, but they’re missing out on the adult market.

Moon Knight is the guy to step in and be the hero the adults have been waiting for. He’s gritty, ruthless, more serious than Deadpool, and while he was an Avenger in the comics, Moon Knight should never be an Avenger in the movies.

Moon Knight started as a rip off of Batman, or so it seems. There were some major differences, but the similarities are too obvious to acknowledge what he was. It wasn’t until his rebrand in 2006 (Moon Knight “Down Botton”) that he became everything that Batman isn’t. He has split personalities, he kills, and he gets his powers (when he has them) from an Egyptian god. And we don’t even know for sure if that god is real or not. He also has the worst kept secret identity ever.

In his story arc “The Bottom” Moon Knight talked about why he does what he does. Not only is it in service of his god, but because he needs to do the dirty jobs. Plus, he really enjoys hurting people and doesn’t mind getting hurt. Maybe my favorite phrase from Moon Knight was when someone said Moon Knight has never met a punch he wouldn’t rather take than dodge. Who wouldn’t want to watch a movie with a guy like this?

2. Hercules and the Greek Gods

So far, the Asgardians have been the only gods to get acknowledged in the MCU. When you have Thor being played by Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston playing Loki, it’s not shocking that they’d stick with that pantheon. However, there are a ton of gods in the Marvel Comics Universe. Among them are the Greek Gods like Zeus, Hera, Ares, and the underrated demigod Hercules.

The Greek Gods in the comics are every bit as messed up as their mythos suggests. Zeus is a cheater and jealous god. Hera is an angry goddess (with a cheating husband, it’s understandable), and Ares thrives on war.

Hercules is also the same as his mythology. He has a love for Earth that is only matched by Thor’s. However, Hercules is a bit more childlike. He loves to drink, fight, and have a lot of sex. He’s been an Avenger and has fought in more battles than most superheroes. Also, his time with Wolverine is hilarious.

Bringing in Hercules would be great for the MCU. He is an underappreciated character who adds levity, action, and adds a villain in his brother Ares. The two of them could have a battle that would make Iron Man versus Hulk look like a slap fight. If and when Thor departs from the MCU, Hercules would make a great replacement. Hopefully, the two meet before that happens. They both hate and respect each other. It’s like watching to siblings fight over the last cookie.

1. Riri Williams

People have assumed that Iron Man is going to die since before Avengers: Infinity War debuted. Eventually, Tony Stark isn’t going to be an Avenger. For a time at least. Someone is going to have to step up and fill in his shoes. People will say Peter Parker is being groomed for that slot, but he’s not ready. Plus, there’s a Marvel Comics character who already has the intelligence to carry the Iron Man legacy. Riri Williams should be next up.

Riri Williams may not have the fighting experience that Spider-Man does, but that may work in her favor. Spidey has been a hero long enough that he can get stuck in his ways. We’ve already seen him not listen on multiple occasions. So much so that it’s almost cost innocent people their lives. Riri Williams has the advantage because she is still fresh. She can be molded into something new all while adding her own style.

In the comics, Tony Stark ends up in a coma after getting a butt-whooping by Captain Marvel. Thankfully, he had a contingency plan in case that happened. He had his mind downloaded into artificial intelligence. While Tony was out of service, he was teaching Iron Heart (her superhero name). It was like she was getting lessons from Tony Stark as if he was right next to her. Combining Robert Downey Jr. as A.I. with Riri Williams could be a perfect way to bring her in without it seeming forced.
