How would the characters of Amazon’s The Boys fare in the Marvel or DC Comics universes?

When people ask what The Boys is about, the answer is simple: It’s a TV series about what heroes would be like if they were real. Some of them would be happy saving the world and being good citizens, but others would see this as a job. The unfortunate part is not everyone is good and honorable at their jobs. When you’re out saving lives, you can’t do a terrible job and not expect for there to be consequences. That is, if you’re not one of The Seven.

In Amazon’s The Boys, we saw first-hand what would happen. Most of the superheroes are selfish. They only care about the money their characters generate and the celebrity that comes with it. With that in mind, what would happen if they left their own universe and ventured into the universe of Marvel or DC Comics? In this article we’ll take a look at where each of the characters would fit in and what their fates would be.

Black Noir

Black Noir is a villain plain and simple. If you have the right controls then you have yourself a weapon. In his case, it wouldn’t matter if it’s Marvel or DC Comics, Black Noir would find himself being someone’s weapon.

He’d most likely belong on the Suicide Squad. We can all agree that Amanda Waller would love to get her hands on Black Noir. We’ve seen that he’s more than capable of following instructions. All she’d need to keep him under control is an Almond Joy.

A-Train

A-Train is the cliché NBA player. He takes his money and spends it on big parties for his entourage and things he doesn’t need. He bought Prince’s guitar for no reason other than just because. Mistakes like this are the reason he’s broke. All in all, however, A-Train isn’t a terrible guy. He just needs guidance from someone who’s been through the same things. Something he could get from Luke Cage.

It would be easy to see Luke taking A-Train under his wing. He’d see a lot of him in himself- a young kid who was making a lot of bad decisions. With Luke’s help, he could redeem himself for what he did to Robin and for all the other things we don’t even know about. It would take a while, but he’d eventually get there.

That’s the thing about Luke Cage. He wants to see people succeed. Especially people that look like him. He hates seeing black men making his community look bad when they should be building it up. After some counseling, A-Train could be right beside him and Iron Fist in Heroes for Hire. Although, not sure how him and Jessica Jones would get along. She’d probably end up throwing him into a wall.

Queen Maeve

Other than Starlight, Queen Maeve is the only person on The Seven that wants to do a good job. Failing to save the people on the plane still haunts her. Can you imagine what her life could have been like if she would have been on there with anyone from the Justice League? She could have saved their lives and, at the very least, given people some hope. Maybe even stayed with them until the end. If she wasn’t surrounded by horrible people she would actually have become a great hero – not just one on commercials and for publicity. Instead, she was used and threatened.

Maeve needs a team that’s all about redemption. You can place her on any of the Avengers rosters. If you look at their teams, a lot of their members are former villains. Hawkeye, Scott Lang, and Scarlet Witch are only a few. Maeve would fit right in. Steve Rogers would get on her about the smoking and language, but he’d respect her.

Another important thing in her personal life is who she dated. No one on the Avengers would question it or use it to make money. They would just want to see her happy – a refreshing change from what she’s used to dealing with.

The Deep

The Deep is a jerk, an idiot, and so far, he seems irredeemable. We saw what he did to Starlight in the first episode of The Boys. That right there showed us everything we needed to know. It didn’t help that we then found out that he’s done similar things to other women. He uses his power and celebrity to get sexual favors. If anyone refuses, he threatens them. We assumed he learned his lesson after he was assaulted at the end of season 1. We were wrong. It’s doubtful that will change in season 3.

It doesn’t matter what universe The Deep is in. He’s going to be a villain and have his teeth kicked down his throat. If he landed in DC Comics, he would be used by Black Manta. The Deep is mentally weak, so Manta would easily talk him into attacking Auqaman. The end result would be Aquaman kicking his butt.

Now, if he came to the Marvel Universe, he’d end up being so scared of Namor that he’d blindly serve him. But, The Deep would get too cocky and Namor would end up kicking his butt. Nothing will change that. The Deep would become the laughing stock of either universe.

Marvin Milk

Unlike The first four people on this list, Marvin “M.M.” Milk doesn’t have any superpowers. He’s just really good at what he does. He’s the thing that keeps the team together, incredible in clutch situations, and has a huge heart. Does all that make him a prime candidate for a superhero team? Probably not. What it does mean is he’s perfect for a couple of other teams.

You don’t have to be an Avenger, member of the Fantastic Four, or fly with Superman to be a hero in comic books. In Marvel, M.M. could have been a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. We’ve seen Phil Coulson, Bobbi Morse (she didn’t always have powers), and Jefferson Davis (Miles Morales’ father) help S.H.I.E.L.D. protect the world. He could also have been part of a long line of heroes that fought alongside Nick Fury doing clandestine missions. That’s the kind of potential he has.

Over on the DC side of things, M.M. would be perfect with Batman. He could’ve worked right beside Alfred Pennyworth. The two of them would have had Batman working even more efficiently than ever. That’s a scary thought. During the times when Alfred was attacked in the cave, he’d help keep Alfred protected until Bruce could get back to the cave. Plus, he would be in less danger. Something his family would appreciate.

Kimiko

Unlike the rest of The Boys, Kimiko (The Female in the comics) has powers. She has super-strength and it also seems like she can’t die. Stormfront broke her neck and she was back to fighting in less than a couple of minutes. Kimiko doesn’t talk either. Her only way of communication seems to be with a version of sign language and facial cues.

Kimiko may have been the MVP of season 2. Not only was Karen Fukuhara incredible throughout the show, Kimiko saved The Boys’ butts on more than a few occasions.

Kimiko would feel right at home in the Marvel Universe. She would start off the same way she did in the comics by being muscle for hire. Eventually, she’d run into Daredevil. After they fought, Daredevil would contact Wolverine. He’d see the same kind honor in her that’s in Logan. Logan has a soft spot for children in need. He’s specifically opened a school so kids wouldn’t have to be soldiers.

It may be a little more difficult here because Kimiko doesn’t have the mutant gene. So she wouldn’t be able to get into Krakoa. Nonetheless, if Logan couldn’t help her he’d find someone who could. He’d probably set her up with Kate Pryde and the Marauders.

Frenchie

The Boys‘ version of Frenchie isn’t anything like he is in the comics. He isn’t an insane former French soldier. He’s a former arms dealer and thief. He was phenomenal at his job too. He had a plan for almost any superhero who would attempt to capture him. For example, he used xanax on a superhero who’s powered by rage.

As much as we may like him in The Boys, Frenchie would be a villain in Marvel or DC Comics. It isn’t just the theft, he also runs guns and does drugs heavy. These are things that the heroes of both universes would not be able to let go. He’d probably end up working for Wilson Fisk. Frenchie is competent (unlike Turk) and not fueled by bloodlust (looking at you, Bullseye). He eventually found something honorable to live for by helping Kimiko. But without her or The Boys, he may remain the same person.

Frenchie would probably end up fighting Frank Castle. This is not a fight that Punisher may be able to win. Punisher hasn’t battled many people with the same kind of skill, patience, and creativity as Frenchie. He isn’t his your average drug dealer, nor is he someone who relies on their powers. Their rivalry could be legendary.

Hughie

Remember the song, “One of these things is not like the other”? Well, if you look at The Boys, Hughie Campbell is the thing that doesn’t belong. Hughie is a genuinely good person. That’s not to say M.M. and Kimiko aren’t. It’s just that Hughie doesn’t have the dark side or the ability to go places that the others can. If Robin didn’t die, he’d have gone throughout the rest of his life content. He’d never have to know what supes are really like. But let’s say Robin dies and then he switches universes? More than likely, someone would be there to help him through it.

In both DC and Marvel Comics, there are great heroes. Superman is looked at as the greatest of them all. It isn’t just because of his powers. Superman has the ability to be a natural inspiration to people. As cliché as it is, he is a symbol of hope. Superman would take his time to help Hughie through his time of need. We’ve seen Superman help people avoid suicide, fix bikes, and take time to help some to the hospital. He’d make sure that Hughie never went down a dark path. Something that’s definitely better than what’s going on now.

Starlight

Starlight is the only member of The Seven that wants to be a hero. It was her dream since she developed powers. She was crestfallen when she found out her mother took money to give her Compound V. Even after that, Starlight still wanted to do what’s right. She remained on The Seven and with Vought International to keep an eye on them. She’s aware that remaining there keeps her in danger. However, Starlight looks at this as her duty.

You have to love Starlight’s outlook on life. She finds out that everything she hoped for was wrong and continues to press on. After what The Deep did to her, we wouldn’t have been shocked if she became emotionless. Instead, she became braver. The true mark of a hero. Sign her up for The Defenders.

As much as Starlight may want to be an Avenger in Marvel Comics (or part the Justice League in DC Comics), she’d fit in better with Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Daredevil. Starlight seems like she wants to be around the people – protecting them from threats like Jigsaw and Tombstone. She can’t do that if she’s off in another galaxy.

Starlight would eventually get the chance to be among the stars, but she’s a better fit fighting among the street heroes – at least at first.

Stan Edgar

Stan Edgar never breaks a sweat when he’s ordering around the world’s most powerful people. He also doesn’t raise his voice. He’s always calm and cool. It’s both admirable and kind of frightening. What kind of person doesn’t have any emotions when things get dire? The kind of person who doesn’t care about anything except the bottom line. And that line is keeping Vought International a billion dollar company. That emotionless demeanor is what keeps him both alive and in power. As he said to Butcher, he doesn’t have the luxury of lashing out like some “raging entitled maniac.”

You’d never know who Stan Edgar was. It doesn’t matter if he was in either the Marvel or the DC Comics universe. Stan Edgar doesn’t want to be on TV if he doesn’t have to. He’s content with knowing that his company is thriving and he can have his riches. Whenever we hear about the C.E.O.s of Roxxon or other companies, that means they’re about to be invaded by heroes. Lex Luthor is one of the few villains who’s managed to maintain his company despite being a known villain. Edgar would learn from the likes of him. You’d only hear his name in whispers and urban legends.

Stormfront

Being a Nazi is deplorable and yet Stormfront managed to one-up her awfulness by holding people hostage and experimenting on them. When they talked back, she had them killed. What made it even more blood-boiling was the fact that she started off being likable and turned into one of the ugliest supes we’ve seen thus far. Her inherent racism and her relationship with Homelander made it easy to hate her. She got her comeuppance in the end, but the reason it felt earned was because she was a phenomenal villain. Aya Cash went in and knocked the role out of the park. She deserves a standing ovation for what she did.

Stormfront would be one of Red Skull’s premier villains in the Marvel Comics universe. Not only is she one of the most powerful villains, she’s smart to boot. Unlike other protagonists that age slowly, Stormfront evolved with the times. Realizing that the old ways wouldn’t work, she hired people to make herself look good online. In reality, she was attempting to start a race war.

Red Skull would have loved everything she did and rewarded her. In return, he would have given her almost anything. It would be great to see Miles Morales or Ms. Marvel take her out. She’d never be able to live with herself. Meanwhile, we’d all smile and laugh.

Homelander

Homelander is a combination of Captain America and Superman. He has all of Superman’s powers with Captain America’s persona. Well, that’s how he looks to the public. In reality, he’s a jerk in red, white, and blue. He’s killed innocent people without a care in the world, abandoned a plane full of people and threatened to kill them while they were scared. He was also willing to let Stormfront’s racism slide. Every so often he’d question her, but he still did nothing. Now, he has no girlfriend, he can’t see his son, and Starlight is back on the Seven. He’s worse off than when he started.

Homelander would end up getting regularly beaten by Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman – together or individually. All of them have beaten beings like him. Heck, they’ve beaten literal gods. Homelander would lose to these DC heroes because he’s easily tricked and manipulated.

Lex Luthor could give Homelander a Kryptonite suit and Superman would trick him out of it. Don’t let him fight Wonder Woman. She’d do things to him that would leave him crying. And Batman, well, he’s Batman. If he has a plan to stop the entire Justice League, what chance does Homelander have? Less than zero.

He’d be lucky to end up in the DC Comics Universe because Thor would probably kill him before he even got there because of the things he’s done. Actually, so would Wonder Woman.

Billy Butcher

Now we have the man of the hour, William “Billy” Butcher. The Boys’ leader and the guy who got this ball rolling. Would Butcher’s hatred for super-people lessen because not all of the heroes have an ulterior motive? Or would he still feel like he’d have to police them? Probably the latter. Butcher’s disdain for super-powered beings runs deeper than the Atlantic Ocean. It’s not possible that he’d end up in a different world and change his mind. He’s a stubborn man who wants to chew bubblegum and crush supes. And he’s all out of bubblegum.

*SPOILER WARNING: If you haven’t read all of The Boys comic book, do not read ahead.*

At the end of The Boys comic book series, Butcher attempted to kill anyone with Compound V in their system. It didn’t matter if they had powers or not. If they had even the potential, he wanted them dead – this included little kids that were unaware of what was in them. This wouldn’t change in the Marvel or DC Comics Universe. He would find a way to kill every super-being on the planet. If you put him in jail, he’d just escape. In the end, it would be Green Arrow or Wolverine that put him down for good.

What do you think? How would the characters of The Boys fare in the Marvel or DC universes? What Marvel or DC heroes would you like to see them fight? Let us know in the comments below!
