‘Sexist’ Batman Shirt is NOT Sexist, Take it from a Feminist Who owns it!

I apologize in advance to my readers for the rant I’m about to go on but something had to be done! Just a few days ago my husband bought me a new Batman t-shirt and I proudly shared it with readers here on Caped Crusades. Now I hear there is backlash from ‘feminists’ insisting that the “Training to be Batman’s Wife” shirt is sexist! I’m here to tell you that it is NOT sexist and as a feminist myself I find this to be ridiculous! If you can understand what “Training to be Wonder Woman” means why the hell would you assume that “Training to be Batman’s Wife” was sexist?!

More from Opinion

Training to be Batman’s wife has NOTHING to do with trying to be thin enough or pretty enough for Bruce Wayne, and the man is gods awful rich he doesn’t want a woman who will cook and clean for him that is what Alfred is for! Bruce Wayne only dates gorgeous debutantes to keep up appearances. If these complainers knew ANYTHING about Batman they would know he is attracted to powerful confident independent women who are sexy because of these traits, his biggest loves were all women like the deadly Talia al Guhl, the crafty and feisty Catwoman and the independent and powerful Wonder Woman!

Training to be Batman’s wife means training to fight crime at his side, hell it could literally be one and the same as the “Training to be Wonder Woman: shirt as those two danced around each other for years. These idiots need to stop jumping to conclusions that every mention of wanting to be a man’s wife is sexist.

Batman was my first love from the age of two and I would dearly love to be his crime fighting wife if he were real. And before someone complains that these characters I’ve mentioned that Batman has loved are all thin and pretty, they are simply in good shape as their chosen professions, assassin, master thief, and super hero, demands! And of course they are beautiful, for the same reason Batman and the other male heroes are handsome, because that is how they are drawn, a stereotypically beautiful movie starlet would never keep Batman’s attention, no matter how many dates Bruce took her own because she is not really worth his time, except as a means to keep his cover. In order for a woman to be Batman’s wife she would have to be able to convince him that she can protect herself from his enemies, or he would never commit to her. I have news for you whining idiots Batman is a feminist! Training to be his wife means you want to keep up with him that is ALL!   I am sorry there wasn’t room to state “I am Training to be a Superhero like Wonder Woman because I want to marry Batman” but that’s just too much to fit on a t-shirt!

If DC Comics is going to apologize they should apologize that people were offended by misinterpreting the meaning behind the shirt and explain what the shirt really means, they can refer to this article if they like. And FYI ultimately they are not responsible for these shirts as they are not the company that designed or sells the shirts, DC is merely the company that owns the rights to Batman.

I do understand where people are coming from with the baby pajamas where the boys are future heroes but the girls only date heroes they make me angry too, but as a feminist fan of Batman I can assure you that this t-shirt I love so much was basically claiming that you were training to be a hero while also hoping to be Batman’s wife. It would have been far more appropriate to make a girl pajamas that said “Future Supergirl”, and if they wanted to have an “I only date heroes” one then there should have been four sets of pajamas, “Future Man of Steel”, “Future Supergirl” or “Future Girl of Steel”, “I only date Heroes” and then also “I only date Heroines” then it couldn’t be called sexist.
