Final Round-Up

This month, Funko went all out and gave fans two high-quality collectibles. We’ve been waiting to see what Funko’s ultimate plans were for their Dorbz acquisition, and now we know. The “Star-Lord With the Milano” Dorbz is something I would love to see more of.

The “Rocket With Baby Groot” figure also proves that Funko is trying to take some risks in shaking up their popular line of vinyl collectibles. I’m looking forward to seeing how this figure will inspire other types of sculpts.

Still not convinced that this is a great box? Due to the items being exclusive and unique to this offering, we’re going to do a theoretical breakdown in price using comparable items found on Ebay:

  • “Star-Lord” Patch: $4.00–$7.00
  • “Gamora” Pin: $4.00–$5.00
  • Secret Empire #0 Variant Edition Comic Book: $2.99
  • “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” T-Shirt: $15.00–$25.00
  • “Star-Lord With the Milano” Dorbz: $20.00–$30.00
  • “Rocket With Groot” Exclusive Pop! Figures: $25.00–$35.00

Using the lower end of the pricing range, all items add up to be $70.99. The movie hasn’t been released yet, but most of the initial prices on Ebay for the “Star-Lord With the Milano” Dorbz and the “Rocket With Groot” Pop! figures are the highest we’ve seen to-date. The prices may rise even higher if the movie becomes another hit like the original—of which is very likely due to positive early reviews.

This month’s box is definitely befitting of one of the biggest summer 2017 blockbusters. Lots of “firsts” for Funko in terms of design, so kudos to them for keeping things fresh. I’m sure fans will be thrilled with two “large” items from the company’s Dorbz and Pop! lines. Funko’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” April 2017 box was a great way to get hyped and prepared for the upcoming, highly anticipated film!

A special thanks to Funko Marketing Manager Yoko McCann for helping us with this review.
