Will we see Harley Quinn in Gotham’s season finale?

After a great deal of speculation, will we finally see Harley Quinn during the two-hour season finale of Gotham? Here’s why the answer should be yes.

Will we see Harley Quinn before Gotham takes its season 3 bow? If you believe the showrunners, then the answer should be yes. Over the course of Gotham’s third season, showrunners have hinted that we will see Harley Quinn before the end of season 3. Well, the season finale is June 5, so it’s time to pay or play.

With the success of 2016’s Suicide Squad, Gotham producers were asked whether or not Harley Quinn would be showing up on the Fox procedural based on the early days of Jim Gordon in Gotham City. We have seen the rise of many of the villains we know from Batman’s Rogues Gallery, including Jerome Valeska, the man who will become to Joker. But as of now we haven’t seen anyone who would make sense as Joker’s future gal pal.

Many fans have wondered if Harley Quinn is somehow tied to Barbara Kean. While both characters are insane in all of the best ways, the age difference is a problem. Harley, who was previously known as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, was a psychiatrist at Arkham Aslyum. Barbara Kean is not a psychiatrist even though she did spend some time at Arkham – as an inmate. There’s also the age problem, as Barbara is much older than Jerome.

There is one other possibility out there, one that makes sense now that Fish Mooney is back on the scene: The Indian Hill inmate who turned Ivy Pepper from a little girl into a young woman could play a role in this. There might be a new doctor out there now that Lee Thompkins has gone off the deep end, and perhaps her age is reversed instead of advanced.

The only thing we know for certain is that we’ve been told that we’d see Harley Quinn before the end of the season. We won’t know anything until after the finale, but keep an eye out – Harley might be making her debut!

Gotham airs Mondays at 8pm on Fox.
