Arrow’s Stephen Amell to appear for Ring of Honor Wrestling

Arrow star Stephen Amell will return to the wrestling ring, as he’s set to make an appearance for Ring of Honor.

Actor Stephen Amell has made a name for himself as the Green Arrow, the titular character of the CW’s Arrow. He plays Oliver Queen, who goes under this persona, and fights crime in Star City. This, among other actor ventures, made Amell a popular face.

However, the 36-year-old’s work has gone beyond the small screen. In 2015, he wrestled a match for the WWE at its SummerSlam pay-per-view. He teamed with Neville to defeat King Barrett and Stardust, the former persona of Cody Rhodes, who appeared in season 5 of Arrow as Derek Sampson. Rhodes brought Amell in for this, as the two are friends. Since then, Rhodes left the WWE and signed with Ring of Honor Wrestling, working under the name “Cody.”

On Tuesday, Amell announced he will return to the wrestling ring, except not for the WWE. He’ll appear at Ring of Honor’s show on Friday, Nov. 17 in San Antonio, TX.

While it’s not noted if the Canadian actor will compete in the ring, given his performance at SummerSlam 2015, it would be difficult to believe he won’t at least dropkick someone. Maybe a dive off the top turnbuckle, too. A special treat for wrestling fans would be if he joins Bullet Club, the popular wrestling faction of the United States and Japan.

Amell and Rhodes will reunite under a different wrestling banner. It’s the same night the WWE will run its own show in the Alamo City, with the NXT brand (the developmental show) taking over a local venue. This will feature WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels as the special referee for Drew McIntyre vs. Adam Cole in an NXT Championship match.
