DC Comics: Top 10 female superheroes of all time
2. Supergirl
Kara Zor-El was a member of the prideful house of El on Krypton. She is the older cousin of Superman who was sent to Earth just before her plant blew up. Unfortunately she would not crash land near a farm, instead she would land in an ice cold Russian terrain. When she awoke she began fighting with Russian soldiers until Superman swooped in to save her. Kara struggles with the thought her home planet’s destruction and ultimately leaves in order to find out the truth. After much hardship, she would eventually return and save the earth from the Worldkillers, thus another Kryptonian hero is born.
Supergirl’s popularity has undoubtedly increased over the years. In large part due to multiple appearances in Smallville, played famously by Laura Vanderoot and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. The character’s popularity would lead DC to develop a live-action series simply titled Supergirl. The popular CW show gave fans a deeper and different look than her previous depictions, no longer was she tied to the hip by Superman. Instead, she was a hero of her own protecting National City. Still, there’s only one DC heroine more popular than Supergirl.
