2. Reverse Flash

Eobard Thawne was a man from the future who wanted to be the Flash. It was only after meeting Barry Allen that he realized that he was destined to be his greatest foe. Thawne killed Barry’s mother and then became stuck in the past, leading to him being responsible for the hero’s creation.

He took over the life of Harrison Wells and hid his abilities from the world. All the while, he helped train the fledgling Flash to become the hero he was destined to become. Of course, Thawne had an ulterior motive: he needed Barry’s speed to help him return to the future. Just at the point when it seemed he’d achieve his goals, his ancestor, Eddie, shot himself, seemingly wiping Thawne from existence.

However, the Reverse Flash is not an easy man to keep away. Thanks to the numerous time remnants he created, he was able to return to fight Barry Allen again. He even returned to battle the Legends and form his own supervillain team: the Legion of Doom.

Perhaps the greatest achievement of The Flash was convincing the audience Harrison Wells wasn’t the Reverse Flash despite actually showing that he was.
