1. Jason Blossom’s Killer Is Revealed

Episode: “Chapter Twelve: Anatomy of a Murder” (Season 1, Episode 12)

Amidst all the mysteries and sleuthing of Riverdale‘s debut season, there was one major question on all of our minds: Who killed Jason Blossom?

Each week that the story unfolded, we saw everyone, from F.P. Jones to Jason’s own sister Cheryl, accused of his murder as Sheriff Keller attempted to find the person responsible for the dreadful deed. However, it would be the town’s teenage mystery solvers, Betty, Jughead, Archie, Veronica and the Sheriff’s own son Kevin, that eventually discovered the truth.

After finding the deceased Riverdale High student’s jacket, Betty procured a USB pen that was hidden within the lining of it. She then inserted it into the laptop and, in an incredibly nail-biting sequence, the show’s regular “Scooby gang” watched the CCTV footage of Jason’s death unfold right before their very eyes.

In what was undoubtedly one of the show’s best-filmed scenes, we didn’t initially get to see the footage for ourselves. Instead, we got separate close-ups of each main character as they all reacted to the violent footage, becoming emotional and horrified as they finally had the answers that they craved but never truly wanted. Their heartbreaking expressions made us question whether we actually wanted to know the truth.

However, we didn’t have to wait long for the answers as, after a phone call from Betty, Cheryl (and us) discovered that the man responsible for killing her brother was her own father, Clifford Blossom. And in another jaw-dropping twist, the rich head of the Blossom family hanged himself in the family’s syrup distillery before the authorities arrived, bringing the nail-biting mystery to an end.

And he would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for those meddling kids…

Riverdale‘s third season currently airs on The CW on Wednesday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET. Which moment shocked you the most? Let us know in the comments below!
