Best Episode

It’s tough to pick one episode from the ten and call it the best. There are three episodes, though, that are clear standouts. Those are episode five (“Expire Erect”), episode eight (“Super Bad Boyfriend”), and episode nine (“Save Lucifer”).

Episode five had an under-the-influence-of-cocaine Ella disarm a bomb while Lucifer was bleeding to death and Chloe was trying to save LUX from a psychopath. During the whole commotion Chloe and Lucifer were also in the process of finding “closure,” as he was trying to separate himself from the detective and the LAPD. He soon realized that Chloe would sacrifice herself to save him when the bomb almost went off. All was resolved and Lucifer went back to work with his favorite partner.

Episode eight was mostly Amenadiel’s episode. Now a soon-to-be father, he had the opportunity of putting his fatherly skills to the test when he befriended a young African American teen who was in trouble with some drug dealers. When the kid was framed for murder Amenadiel took it upon himself to find the truth. Along the way he also experienced the hardships that many African Americans face when dealing with the police. This gave Amenadiel a new perspective on life on Earth.

Episode nine gave us some of the best dialogue in the entire series, as well as a scene that will go down as the best in the show’s history. In this episode Lucifer is transforming into his Devil-self and he can’t control it. This disturbs him because he doesn’t want Chloe to see him that way. The best part is that it’s Chloe who helps him transform back into human form. Her reaction throughout the entire scene is pure magic, with Lauren German giving her best performance yet.

It is also in this scene where one can really tell that Netflix put some serious budget behind the show. The Devil looked as if he was the star of his own blockbuster feature film.

Top Moments

There were many great moments throughout the entire season. From incredible action sequences to intimate dramatic conversations full of red, teary eyes, this fourth season had it all. While we can’t list them all, here are some of the top moments from each episode:

  • Ep. 1: When Lucifer stopped an SUV and Chloe saw his Devil-eyes.
  • Ep. 2: Chloe’s time in Rome.
  • Ep. 3: When Lucifer said, “Forgive me father for not offering you a drink.”
  • Ep. 4: When Maze learns what ultrasound gel is.
  • Ep. 5: The whole “LUX is under siege” sequence.
  • Ep. 6: Chloe and Lucifer’s second car conversation, right before they discover the human traffickers.
  • Ep. 7: Trixie didn’t get much to do in this season, but she had the best moment in this episode when she ran off to LUX because “Lucifer needed a friend.”
  • Ep. 8: Amenadiel’s encounter with the bad side of the LAPD.
  • Ep. 9: The last scene where Chloe helps Lucifer transform back into human form. “I hate that I am poison for anyone who dares to care about me. And especially you.”
  • Ep. 10: When Chloe tells Lucifer, “I love you.”

Now, what makes Lucifer amazing is the time the show takes in developing these characters. And despite the shortage of episodes, season four didn’t hold back, giving us amazing character development all throughout.
