Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland star in Columbia Pictures’ Spider-Man: Far From Home.

3. Mysterio Is Lying About His Intentions

Okay, so we’ve made it this far looking at only some of the storylines that the introduction of the multiverse could lead to because, quite frankly, the possibilities are infinite. However, get ready to have the rug pulled out from under you here because, what if all of those possibilities are all merely an illusion crafted by a master of illusion?

Now, given that Spider-Man: Far From Home seems to be centered on the multiverse itself, this theory might seem too far-fetched (and too cruel) to be true, but the fact of the matter is that it’s been one of the longest-standing ones; the reason being that the person who introduces it more than likely isn’t who he says he is.

Ever since Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio showed up in the film’s trailer, there have been major question marks about the character’s role.

In the comics, Quentin Beck/Mysterio is a villainous mastermind, renowned for creating illusions to get the better of his enemies, and yet all of Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s footage has portrayed him as a determined ally of Nick Fury and faithful mentor to Spider-Man who is willing to do whatever it takes to help them in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame.

If this is all merely a front for the character’s true intentions, he’s obviously hoping to manipulate the MCU’s heroes during a time when they’re vulnerable. But that, in itself has left us with so many questions: What is he lying about? Is he really like his comic book counterpart? Is he even from another universe? Heck, does the multiverse even exist, or is that all an illusion too?

Mysterio’s role has spawned countless fan-theories, meaning that no matter how crazy some of them seem, chances are that at least one of them is right.

Speaking of which…
