39. Nick Fury – Massachusetts
Massachusetts is known for a lot of firsts.
Harvard University is the first college to open in the United States (1636). The Boston Commons was the first public park (1634). The first living organ transplant happened in Brigham Hospital (which is now Brigham and Women in 1954). The first chocolate chip cookie was invented at the Toll House Restaurant in Whitman in 1938 (that one may be my favorite). It was also the home of the first public school (Boston Latin School in 1635).
Massachusetts is also known for its U.S. history as well. There’s the Boston Tea Party where 342 chests of British tea into the harbor. It’s also the birthplace of some historical political figures like John Adams, John Quincy Adams, John F. Kennedy, and Samuel Adams.
Nick Fury was the first person in the MCU to even mention the Avengers. We find out that even before the first Iron Man movie he and Carol Danvers were finding a way to protect the world (see Captain Marvel).
Massachusetts is part of the reason the U.S. isn’t run by the British. Nick Fury is the reason the Avengers came together to begin with. Without him Thanos would have completed his goal a lot easier and his reign of terror may not have come to an end, just as the British’s reign of power may not have ended without Massachusetts actions.
