3. Claire Holt

If the DC Universe wants the darker side of Barbara Gordon, an actress like Claire Holt would certainly be capable of pulling it off. Holt is known for multiple television roles – most recently she starred in the short-lived crime drama Aquarius. The former H20 actress played Charmain Tully, a female cop working in a male-dominant department, who, despite the insults and unfavorable treatment doesn’t lose herself. Her character is comedic despite the outward torment she’s facing from her male colleagues.

In 2017, Holt starred alongside Mandy Moore in the survival thriller 47 Meters Down. The film saw the 31-year old actress play a character that was often distressed, frightened and, most of all, brave.

However, her most famous for her role was undoubtedly as the complex Rebekah Mikaelson in The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off, The Originals. As Rebekah, Holt embodied everything you expect to see from an actress playing Barbara Gordon. She’s vulnerable yet tough as she can kick butt with the best of them. Although she’s often neglected or put in some bad situations, Rebekah is always the light in her very dark family.

The range Holt displays in her roles is something that’s necessary for Barbara. In the case of Holt, Batgirl is ideally suited for the actress. Despite her historically serious roles, she could bring the necessary fun to Titans.
