9. The fanboy opening

Episode: “Batman’s Back, Man

One of the things that makes Harley Quinn special is the fact that they’re completely aware of who they are. Much like other properties, they know that there are people out there that irrationally hate the show – with some trolls even finding issue with the fact that it empowers women. Sadly, this hatred happens more than you think. During the “Batman’s Back, Man” episode, the creators made it a point to poke fun at that group of people.

They had two guys sitting on a couch. One of them was drawn and voiced as a stereotypical fanboy; the other was trying to be rational. However, his shirt  (that said The Last Jedi isn’t Canon) proved that he was just like his friend. One of them was making negative comments about Harley Quinn. Fun fact, he’d never seen the show.

When this episode came out, everyone online was talking about that more than the actual episode. It was brilliantly done, but it wasn’t done in an offensive way. They just poked fun at the people who say mean things about them in a very tongue-in-cheek kind of way. If we’re being honest, they could have been harsher with their critique. But they weren’t. It was even funnier that the one episode Harley wasn’t in was the one they watched. There’s no way that this wasn’t done intentionally.
