4. The Commish

Episode: Every episode he was in!

Commissioner James Gordon had a much bigger part this season. We saw him struggle to keep his personal life from falling apart, we saw him fail to keep his officers in line and there were also episodes where we saw him refuse to wear a shirt. All of this was just a way for us to see him become a better man. And he did… right up until he started to become a terrible commissioner again.

The biggest issue with Gordon is his insecurities. He feels like nothing he does is good enough. If he’s not Batman’s friend, if he lets the city down, or if he’s not being a good enough husband and father, he does things that hurt the city. He makes rash decisions that make things worse.

It’s shocking that there are any civilians or police officers left in Gotham. Gordon kept putting people in harm’s way to feed his need to be a better man. However, through his failures, we received a lot of comedy.

Watching him try and shoot parademons, eat disgusting food while watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and run out of a church screaming was hilarious. Every time we thought he couldn’t do anything sillier, he would prove us wrong. It makes you wonder what he’ll do next season.
