The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: 4 huge predictions for the finale
By Mark Lynch
3. U.S. Agent vs Captain America
This fight is going to be epic. We saw Sam Wilson training hard at the end of episode five of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. That training will come in handy, especially since with the shield. John Walker is a super soldier. That means he’s stronger, faster, and more durable. He’s also more violent.
As to be expected, Sam will win this fight. It won’t be won easily. Sam is going to take his share of hits. In the end, however, his new Captain America suit (complete with wings from Wakanda) and his shield are going to tip the scales.
2. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine reveals her intentions for John Walker
Julia Louis-Dreyfus made her debut as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the previous episode. That character has had a few different jobs in Marvel Comics – among them was being Madame Hydra. The internet is assuming that Valentina will take up that title in the MCU. If she does, look for her to recruit John Walker into the fold.
John Walker isn’t going to take his loss to Sam well. He’ll still feel the need to do more despite not being able to work for the U.S. Government. Valentina said there were other options. She could be talking about herself. If she’s Hydra, don’t be surprised if she has him brainwashed. Or, maybe she’s recruiting for a new version of S.H.I.E.L.D. or perhaps she’s the Power Broker. Power Broker has a connection to John Walker in the comics. Valentina planted the seed in Walker’s brain. Now all she has to do is bring him in.
1. Death in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
No Marvel Cinematic Universe project is complete without the death of someone. It’s usually a character that we love. In this case, it could be Karli Morgenthau. She may be the antagonist in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but she’s still someone that people like. Karli’s gone through a lot and John Walker killing her colleague and friend certainly didn’t help. It made her angrier. Now she’s ready for an extreme solution to her problem.
Karli won’t be killed by Sam or Bucky. That’s not who they are. If she’s killed by someone else, it might be John Walker. The most likely reason will be her sacrificing herself. After having a talk with Sam or Bucky, she may see what she’s doing is hurting more than helping. With that in mind, she’ll stop what she’s planning and perhaps die in the process. This will be an emotional moment that will leave Sam and Bucky thinking about how they save people moving forward.
