1. The Avengers vs Hulk and Betty

Comic book: Immortal Hulk No. 46

Bruce Banner and all of his Hulk personalities have been having a rough time. The Devil Hulk was killed, the child-like Hulk was puny and Bruce Banner was trapped by the Leader. The only personality left was Joe Fixit. After regaining his Hulk powers, Joe put a massive beating on the U-Foes for almost killing him.

After defeating them, Joe (as the Hulk) went to a bar trying to figure out his next move. Before he could decide, he was attacked by Thor and the Avengers. Obviously, Hulk wasn’t going to back down. Just as T’Challa reminds him that it’s seven against one, Betty Banner shows up in her Harpy form and says it’s seven against two.

Why is this important?

There are a few things to note here. First, Betty coming to Hulk’s rescue says a lot. She was against helping Bruce and would barely talk to him. It was different with Joe, however, because she got along with him.

Second of all, Henry Peter Gyrich called the Avengers – something he didn’t want to do. It was a move he called dealing with the devil you know.

Lastly, how are the two gamma-powered monsters going to do against the Avengers? The first time around the Avengers had to destroy a city to defeat the Hulk. This time, this isn’t Devil Hulk they are facing. Joe isn’t as strong, but he’s craftier. He also has Betty with him. This could be the fight of the year.
