Greatest comic book characters – 82. Black Widow (Natasha Romanova )

First comic book appearance: Tales of Suspense No. 52

Natasha Romanova is one of the best spies and assassins in comic books. For a while, that’s where it stopped. Sure, she had a mysterious and dark past, but there was rarely any emotion that went along with it. All we knew is that she was tough as nails. That’s changed over the last 20 years. You need to look no further than Kelly Thompson’s of Black Widow run to see that.

We saw Black Widow show the world what it looks like when she truly cares for someone. And what happens if you hurt them. The result of that first series made her want to try something new with her life. She’s been an Avenger, spy, assassin, and more. Her next journey will be more special than them all.

Greatest comic book characters – 81. Dream

First comic book appearance: Sandman No. 1

Neil Gaiman’s Sandman is one of the best comic book series ever written. That isn’t an exaggeration. The story follows Dream. The literal god of dreams and one of the most powerful beings in existence. His abilities don’t stop at dreamland. He can cast spells, read minds, and remains immortal. Though he may not understand most human traits, he seems to still have a heart. One story, in particular, came when he visited someone for six hundred years. At one point he smiled when he met him after hundreds of years. When his series makes it to Netflix, Dream will become well-liked for his personality.
