Greatest comic book characters – 78. Ultimate Reed Richards (Maker)

First comic book appearance: Ultimate Fantastic Four No. 1 (as Reed Richards) Ultimate Fallout No. 4 as Maker

The Ultimate universe had its ups and downs. A lot of the characters were changed. Some of them are phenomenal. Others were awful. Among the best was Reed Richards. He starts off as your typical Mr. Fantastic. Then, things change. He becomes a monster.

Reed begins his journey into a madman by killing his family and faking his death. Later, he set out to get the power of Thor while his group (the Children of Tomorrow) killed the Asgardians and drained them of their powers. Years later, he joined Thanos and the Cable and tried to become a god during Secret War. Overall, he’s just an evil person, but a genius just like his 616 counterpart. Makes you wonder if they’ll go this route in the MCU.

Greatest comic book characters – 77. Wanda Maximoff

First comic book appearance:  The X-Men No. 4

It’s only just recently that Wanda Maximoff has started to get the appreciation she deserves. It began in Avengers: Disassembled. She took out the entire Avengers team without them knowing. Had Doctor Strange not stepped in, who knows what would have happened. This leads to House of M and the eventual Mutant Decimation.

Without the bad things she did, Wanda wouldn’t have started her redemption tour or the exploration of her powers and it is easily her best moments in Marvel Comics. While trying to make amends for what she did to mutants, Wanda learns about her Scarlet Witch lineage. With Elizabeth Olson killing in it the MCU, look for Wanda to get more exposure in the comics.
