Greatest comic book characters – 62. Deena Pilgrim

First comic book appearance: Powers No. 1

Deena Pilgrim has characteristics we should strive for as a person despite her flaws. She’s confident in her abilities regardless of people downing her. She may hide her insecurities in private, but who doesn’t. Especially since she works on them.

Deena doesn’t back down from a challenge. She’s been told she’d never be any good and continuously proved everyone wrong. She’s one of the most fearless characters as well. She talks smack to beings that could kill her with a pinky. Yet, she remains who she is; a proud woman. Powers needs a proper show in an animated form as live-action doesn’t work.

Greatest comic book characters – 61. Rogue

First comic book appearance: Avengers Annual No. 10

Rogue came into the Marvel Comics universe under the guidance of Mystique. Normally, this would lead to a career of crime. Thankfully, she didn’t choose that path. Otherwise she may not have become the well-rounded and developed character we see today.

Let’s look at the facts. First, she’s been a leader multiple times. One of them was made from mostly unhinged and evil teammates. Another time was with the Avengers. Again, with a team full of people who shouldn’t have played well together. However, she made it work.

An underrated moment came during Second Coming. Rogue was there for Hope Summers during a time when she needed someone most. Cable left her and didn’t plan on coming back. When she went into battle, Rogue was there by her side. Without her, Hope would have had to go it alone during and possibly died.
