5. The Time Variance Authority make their MCU debut
Since the trailers for Loki were first released, fans were wondering who the TVA were and how they would play a role in the series. The organisation makes their mark from the opening moments on the episode, detaining Loki and making him stand trial for his crimes against the “sacred timeline.”
This gave fans an introduction to who the TVA are and what their purpose is, along with some indication of the power they hold (Infinity Stone paperweights) and an array of different gadgets showcases that this organisation is going to be a powerful force. Their agents know a variety of different languages and have apparently been protecting the timeline throughout history, leading to some more questions from fans.
It will be interesting to see how the TVA continues to play a role in the series and the MCU beyond, as Agent Mobius seems keen to utilise Loki’s skills to help take down another variant, despite the 2012 Loki needing to be reset. For now, it seems the TVA will make an uneasy alliance with the God of Mischief.
Regardless of how the TVA’s role in the series plays out, it was incredible to see the organisation finally be brought into the MCU fold as another powerful organisation. Their old animation style presentation about a multiversal war could also be teasing some of the huge developments expected to come in the Marvel multiverse in the near future.
