4. Loki was D.B. Cooper
In a scene that was already shown in the multiple trailers released prior to the show’s debut, it turns out that Loki Laufeyson was indeed D.B. Cooper. However, the trailers did not spoil context (or the excitement) of the sequence, as Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius watches the scene with an imprisoned Loki in the TVA headquarters.
The disappearance of D.B. Cooper is still a major mystery, with the plane hijacking resulting in Cooper parachuting from the aircraft and disappearing without a trace. However, the series adds its own fictional context to that real-life mystery by putting Loki in the role of Cooper and ultimately having him use Heimdall and the bifrost to return to Asgard.
While the scene does not have any major impact on the show’s narrative, it is showcased to Loki to display that the TVA knows all about his past, his mischievous ways and just a chance for Mobius to get excited about the fact that Loki was D.B. Cooper (with the God of Mischief admitting that this was the result of him losing a bet). It also gave Marvel a chance to have some fun with the mystery and put their own spin on the seemingly unsolvable real-life mystery of D.B. Cooper.
