What If…? episode 9 spoilers: What is the finale about?
The first season of Marvel’s What If…? comes to a close in a finale of epic proportions next week. But what can fans expect from the ninth episode?
Marvel’s What If…? has been a constant in the life of Marvel fans for nearly 10 weeks now. The animated series premiered in the same slot that Disney Plus has had success with its various live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe offerings and it too has experienced similar success.
Designed to showcase the infinite amounts of possibilities that the multiverse contains, it is set in various parallel universes within the MCU and utilises many of its beloved characters to highlight those infinite possibilities, changing a variable here and there to showcase the impact it can have on the worlds that we know.
Over the course of What If…?‘s run, we have seen a number of standalone adventures set within different universes. However, the running theory is that they are all going to unite for the season finale.
Speaking of which, with the eighth and penultimate episode now available to be watched, all eyes turn to the ninth episode. With that in mind, what do we know about the season finale?
What If…? episode 9 plot synopsis
Though an official synopsis of the season finale of Marvel’s What If…? has yet to be released, fans believe they have figured out what the episode will be about. And that is the war for the multiverse with the Ultron that just so happens to look like Vision.
We saw the entity surface in the seventh episode’s shocking conclusion, as “What If… Thor Were An Only Child” served as a teaser for that finale, while the eighth episode also made reference to Ultron (something that became clear when the poster for the penultimate episode featured him).
As for what will actually happen in the finale? That remains to be seen, but it is believed that a team of Avengers from across the multiverse, including Captain Carter, T’Challa as Star-Lord, Thor and Doctor Strange Supreme will unite to stop Ultron.
Marvel’s What If…? episode 9 streams exclusively on Disney+ next Wednesday, October 6, at 12:01 a.m. PT and 3:01 a.m. ET.
