Marvel’s What If…?: 10 best moments from season 1
By Mark Lynch
3. What If…? Captain Carter is born
This was something special. Not just because Peggy Carter became Captain Carter. Marvel created a brand new character and people fell in love with her, mostly because she stood up for herself. There was no way she was going to sit back while the war was fought. She certainly wasn’t going to be used to sell war bonds.
Steve had heart, but he was too eager to help. He was going to do anything to assist. Peggy Carter had been a soldier and fighter for a while. With her new abilities, she knew she could turn the tide in the war. So, instead of sitting on the sidelines, she fought.
2. Doctor Strange absorbs power
In order for Doctor Strange to stop an event that needed to happen, he needed more power – more power than even the Eye of Agamotto (Time Stone) could provide. To get that power, he had to absorb the energy from multiple beings. At first, he tried something too big. After it defeated him, Strange started small and worked his way up to big.
This scene began the darkness of What If…? We saw the kind of monsters that only appear in horror films and nightmares. As Stephen Strange was taking these beings inside him, he started to change physically. For example, his eyes started to look demonic and his arms turned into tentacles. This was only the beginning. The number one spot shows the end result of his actions.
