1. Doctor Strange destroys a universe

There’s no way we can discuss the most memorable moments of What If…? without this one. Immediately after the episode aired, people took to social media unable to believed what they had seen. Doctor Stephen Strange destroyed his universe. This led to discussions on why he did it.

When Doctor Strange started, he said he was doing it out of love. The episode is even called “What If… Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?” If we had the power to bring back someone we loved, we probably would have tried this as well. However, at what point do we stop? That’s where the next debate comes in. Did Doctor Strange continue out of love or hubris?

Strange knew the consequences. He was told by Wong, the Ancient One, and by his other self that going down this path was a bad idea. Yet, he continued. This may have started because of love, but did it continue due to his arrogance? As we saw, Christine was not happy with what he did.

Lastly, the part that stuck with this writer was the end. The creative team perfectly finished the episode. The last thing we see is Doctor Strange crying and saying that he was sorry. Strange’s crystal prison fades away as somber music plays. As sad as this was, it was the most memorable moment of What If…?.
