The Walking Dead best duos: Daryl & Merle

Believe it or not, Norman Reedus actually auditioned for the role of Merle (Michael Rooker). At the time, Daryl was non-existent in the show, since he was absent from Robert Kirkman’s comic book.

After casting Michael Rooker as Merle, the producers couldn’t leave out Reedus given his impressive audition. Subsequently, they created Merle’s brother Daryl. The rest, as they say, is history.

As we know, Daryl and Merle weren’t always civil during their time on the show. There was definitely an element of sibling rivalry.

However, their brotherly love shines through more often than not, like the sheer anger when Daryl learns that Merle was left stranded on a rooftop in season one. Or Daryl’s outpouring of emotion when he finds his brother has turned into a walker.

The chemistry between them was so fun. If one thing is for sure, you wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of these two fearsome brothers!
