Was Jensen Ackles offered the role of Hawkeye?
It has been reported that Ackles actually auditioned at one point to play Captain America, but, of course, Chris Evans ended up taking the role. It was also reported that Ackles got offered the role of Hawkeye in The Avengers instead. At the time, he already had a commitment to continue with Supernatural and wasn’t able to take the role.
This is definitely something interesting to think about. Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye has been maybe a bit more of a mixed reaction among fans since he first appeared in 2011’s Thor. While some fans love him as Hawkeye, others do not think that the character has been as funny or interesting as the comic book version. Of course, some of this comes down to the script and isn’t up to the actors.
Jensen Ackles might have made an intriguing Hawkeye, and maybe one that had a little more sex appeal. But, we will never know how he would have been in the role as it was not meant to be. Supernatural might never end, so who knows if Jensen Ackles or any of the other Supernatural leads will ever make a debut in the MCU. We guess that only time will tell.
