2. Steven Grant

Played by: May Calamawy

Steven Grant was fantastic from start to finish. His insecurity could be funny and sad. His naivety to the supernatural ends up becoming calamitous and hilarious. It was also perfect how his knowledge of Egyptian lore helped along the way. When he finally embraced who he was, he was flawless.

Oscar Isaac put on an acting clinic throughout the season as Steven Grant. He could be goofy, loving, sentimental, and smart all at once. This made viewers gravitate to him. It’s also why it was sad seeing him turning into sand at the end of episode 5.

1. Khonshu

Played by: F. Murray Abraham

The god of the moon and vengeance was easily the best character of the show. At first, he was just hilarious. Calling Steven a worm or whatever insult came to mind was always entertaining. The voice added to it as well. F. Murray Abraham truly made the character pop.

Then, we saw that he cared. Maybe not for Marc or Steven, but for the people he protected. He was willing to risk permanent imprisonment if it meant Ammit would stay imprisoned. Later, he was okay with death if it meant stopping her.

However, the end of the season showed an entirely different tale. Khonshu allowed Jake Lockley to kill innocent people in a hospital so Arthur Harrow could be killed. Do the ends justify the means? Maybe, but a good god would find another way. All of this adds to him being the best character  on the show.
