6. Taron Egerton

Taron Egerton made a name for himself in Kingsman: The Secret Service. He continued on to win a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Elton John in Rocket Man. Both of these roles are vastly different but they have something in common. They highlight that he could be the perfect Johnny Storm.

First, there’s Kingsman. In the two movies, he was a bad-boy and a bit of a ladies man – something that fans know Johnny to be. In Rocket Man, Taron played a party machine, showcasing the actor’s ability to play wild when he needs to.

Rocket Man also showed Taron’s range as an actor. There will be moments where Johnny will have to be serious. Maybe even overly angry. Those are the moments when Egerton will shine brightly as the Human Torch.

5. Austin Theory

This is a pick that likely won’t happen. However, why shouldn’t it? Austin Theory has been busting his butt in the WWE and NXT for the last couple of years. He’s quickly become a great heel by portraying himself as an annoying, arrogant, selfie-taking jerk. All of this points to him being a nice pick to play Johnny Storm, especially as the character likes being a superhero celebrity.

If Theory could pull off the sentimental moments – which will be needed even more than the silly moments – then Marvel would have a winning performance on their hands, because he can definitely be the annoying little brother, impulsive hero, and hot-head that Marvel Comics fans love.
