Billy Porter

Billy Porter is amazing. It isn’t just when he acts; there is an aura that comes with him. When he’s on a red carpet, he moves with a confidence that may be unmatched. His head is held high and his shoulders don’t slouch and he exudes the idea that he knows in his heart that he is the best looking person in the room and no one can tell him otherwise. It’s that kind of confidence that the Hellfire Club’s Selene exudes.

Comic book character: Selene

In Marvel Comics, Selene is a mutant vampire. Instead of drinking blood, she takes a person’s life force. It’s what gives her power. Selene has been manipulative and powerful throughout her centuries of being alive. At one point she was close to ruling the world. If not for X-Force, she would have succeeded.

Selene is a woman in the comics, but it isn’t something that’s necessary. The personality is the important part. Billy Porter would slay this role. He could easily play sassy and powerful while being the Black Queen of the Hellfire Club. He can also play seductive. This writer would love to see Billy Porter talking trash to Emma Frost. That alone is enough to win people over.

Of course there will be people who aren’t fans of gender-swapping characters in adaptations. Nevertheless, this writer thinks gender and race aren’t essential to the character. It would be cool to see Billy Porter playing the seductress mutant vampire.
