MCU: The 20 best Marvel Cinematic Universe characters of 2022
By Mark Lynch
18. Riri Williams
Marvel project: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Actress: Dominique Thorne
With all of the characters that needed screen time, this writer wondered how Riri Williams would fit in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Not only did she fit in, she was crucial to the movie. While that was important, there was something else going on. Dominique Thorne showed that Ironheart will be a successful show.
Riri Williams is popular in Marvel Comics. However, she may not be known to fans outside of the comic book genre. This was her audition to the world and she nailed it. Especially with her intelligence which is her best attribute. Even Shuri was impressed. All of this should get fans excited for her future Disney Plus show.
17. Thor (Jane Foster)
Marvel project: Thor: Love and Thunder
Actress: Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman is an amazing actress, which is why people may have been disappointed in her role as Jane Foster in the first two Thor movies. Bringing her back in Thor: Love and Thunder was a risk. Marvel could have recast – just ask Terrence Howard. Thankfully, they didn’t.
Natalie Portman ended up being everything that a fan could have hoped for as Thor. She was funny, but not over the top (a problem that a lot of people had). More importantly, she kicked all types of butt. Hopefully, she’ll return one more time as Valkyrie.
