7 TV shows we’re terrified will be canceled in 2023

The Mandalorian
Okay, hear us out. There is no denying The Mandalorian remains one of the most popular shows on Disney Plus. It’s already spawned one spinoff with The Book of Boba Fett and more are on the way beginning with Ashoka. The future seems bright for the show and franchise, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be unsure about the show’s future.
Pedro Pascal continues to be highly sought after and is set to next appear in HBO’s The Last of Us which has the potential to be a major hit. If the show does take off in the way HBO hopes, it’s quite possible he could suddenly be the face of two hit franchises. While it’s entirely possible for him to continue on with both shows, it could definitely complicate matters. (And let’s not forget the rest of The Mandalorian cast are all equally as busy.)
The show is also in uncharted territory at Disney Plus as its longest-running live-action original show. Because of this, it’s unclear how long Disney might look to keep its shows going as we don’t have a gauge for its magic number. For example, we’ve come to expect many Netflix shows to end somewhere between three to five seasons.
Knowing The Mandalorian is an expensive series, there is a chance Disney could look to bring it to a close with a final season order. Let’s just hope that doesn’t end up being the case and that the show will continue for many more seasons beyond its upcoming third season.
The Orville
It’s never a promising sign when a show airs a season finale and there is no renewal announcement made months later. And that’s the key reason there is a growing concern thatThe Orville might have flown its last mission.
Since wrapping its third season in August, there has been no word on whether the show will be coming back for a fourth season. Creator Seth MacFarlane hinted that the show’s fate could hinge on how it performed upon arriving on Disney Plus after its run on Hulu. The show has been streaming on Disney Plus for a few months now, but there have been no reports about its performance to help give us any indication of if its streaming numbers have been strong enough to merit a renewal.
Given how amazing the show’s third season was, it would be a true shame if The Orville‘s time on air was cut short. At least we can take some comfort in knowing that if the show does end, it will go out on an incredible high.
