Movies on Disney Plus: Thor: The Dark World
Thor: The Dark World is the 2013 sequel to the first Thor movie, focusing on the God of Thunder and his brother, Loki. Together, they must stop Malekith and the Dark Elves from destroying the universe. The film was directed by Alan Taylor and sees Chris Hemsworth, Tim Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, and Idris Elba return. The cast is certainly a plus in Thor 2, but the movie is widely known as one of the worst MCU entries.
This is because fans really don’t connect with Malekith as a villain; he’s not well-developed or really memorable. The tone is also very offputting in Thor 2, as it tries to add humor in awkward places which makes it feel forced. Taylor has spoken out about the criticisms surrounding the movie, saying a lot of what he did was changed in post-production. Maybe one day we’ll get to see the “Taylor Cut,” but until then, feel free to skip this one.

Movies on Disney Plus: Iron Man
If you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can’t go wrong with an Iron Man watch. The 2008 movie directed by Jon Favreau started the MCU, introducing the world to the great Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr. The movie sets up over a decade of world-building and storytelling, beginning with the beloved billionaire genius out in Afghanistan.
Things go terribly wrong when he’s captured by terrorists who want him to build a weapon of mass destruction. Instead, he builds the first Iron Man suit and escapes, marking the birth of the armored superhero. The movie is a perfect blend of action, humor, and heart, and we’ll always recommend it!
