Marvel: 17 Stan Lee created Marvel characters ranked worst to best
2. Nick Fury
Nick Fury is one of the most important characters in the whole of the Marvel Universe. This is the man who brought the Avengers together. Without him, there would be no team.
However, before all that, he was Sgt. Fury in the Howling Commandos series. This was all the way back in 1963, just two years after Stan Lee first ever created a Marvel character. The best thing is, there’s an interesting parallel element to Fury’s story and to Captain America’s.
In the first-ever book, he was in combat in World War II. The character was then brought into the modern day, allowing him to interact with the Fantastic Four and go on to become the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Since then, he’s become one of the most popular non-hero superheroes. This is a character that shows you don’t need money or abilities to be a superhero. You need determination and desire to want to protect people. He is the glue that keeps the Avengers together. Most others have one or the other.
You just have to look at the Avengers themselves, Tony Stark has the money and smarts to build his tech, Steve Rogers was created as Captain America, and even Thor is a Norse God. Yet, Fury is one that proves abilities are all you need. He has helped to pave the way for the likes of Black Widow and Hawkeye.
Nick Fury has certainly been through several changes over the years. However, these are changes for the good and you can’t deny that you want a Nick Fury series once the Disney streaming service is up and running, right?
