You knew this was going to happen! We had to pick the original Superman for the top spot in the rankings of the best Superman movies. There’s so much to love about Superman, and this movie is nearly perfect. It features incredible performances from some of the biggest movie stars of all time.
In the film, Kal-El, a child from the planet Krypton, is sent to Earth before the planet is destroyed. He is adopted by the Kents, who give him the new name, Clark Kent. He has extraordinary powers, and he uses those powers for good as Superman, the protector of Earth. The film features Superman’s first battle with Lex Luthor, who is plotting to use a powerful nuclear missile to destroy California and create his own continent.
In terms of superhero movies, it doesn’t get much more iconic than the original Superman movies. Overall, Superman is one of the best superhero movies ever made. It’s hard to imagine the industry would be where it is today without Richard Donner, Christopher Reeve, and Superman.
