If we’re going in a new direction for the DC Universe, why not take it with someone who knows a thing or two about playing different versions of The Joker. Cameron Monaghan is generating a lot of buzz in the Star Wars world these days for his role as Cal Ketsis in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, but he also dabbled in the world of DC, playing Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska on Gotham.

Monaghan caught all of our attention with his scarily comic-accurate laugh in the show’s first season and it instantly made fans excited for every time Jerome would return. Speaking of Jerome, he was a nod to the more twisted, and maniacal modern day version of The Joker, so obsessed with chaos and destruction that he would often run into things without fully thinking them through (or caring about the consequences).

On the other hand, Jeremiah (the one that would inevitably become The Joker) was cold, calculating, and liked to take his time with a plan, ensuring that it was a powder keg primed and ready for the ultimate explosion before he finally lit the match. He also had an appearance closer to that of the more traditional Joker look.

Monaghan is a sensational actor and quite frankly one of the best actors to ever play The Joker. He never fully gets the credit that he deserves, but he would be a phenomenal choice to bring him to life on the big screen and get those long overdue flowers.
