Who’s joining the cast in Superman and Lois season 4?

While Superman and Lois‘ cast will see some major reductions, there will be one new addition (well, full-time addition). Michael Cudlitz is joining the cast of season 4 as iconic Superman villain Lex Luthor.

Cudlitz made his debut as the notorious DC antagonist in the third season’s penultimate episode when Lex was released from prison after serving 20 years for a crime he was framed for. Now out for revenge on Superman, Lois Lane and the DOD, he is set to become a major thorn in the side of the DC heroes.

DC fans will know that Lex Luthor is the Man of Steel and the intrepid reporter’s archenemy, so it was always a question of when he would make his presence felt on Superman and Lois, which has normally sidestepped the more traditional Superman villains to make way for unique adaptations of lesser-known characters. Luthor had been mentioned before, so we knew he existed (though at that time we thought they were referring to the version seen on Supergirl played by Jon Cryer), and it was eventually announced that he would make his first appearance in season 3.

Cudlitz has been promoted to a series regular position for season 4, making him the only new full-time cast member on the show. Yes, that means there are just five series regulars.
