2. What is the connection between Fury and Gravik?

Every rebellion needs a leader and for the Skrulls, that leader is Gravik. In the episode, we learn that he has been using the anger of displaced Skrulls to back his mission to take over the planet. While this is the first time we’ve heard the name Gravik in the MCU, it’s clear that this isn’t the first time Fury has. While it’s not directly stated how the two know each other, it seems obvious that they have a history.

The most obvious sign that something is different about their dynamic is that Fury shows restraint against Gravik, not using the multiple opportunities he had to shoot him when he had no problem shooting Skrulls earlier in the episode, killing one to protect Talos. While it could simply be that he didn’t want to injure any nearby civilians, it does seem suspicious that he didn’t engage at all.

During Fury’s conversation with Sonya Falsworth, she hints at him knowing the Gravik personally and he immediately clarifies that he “knew” him which could mean a wide variety of things. There is a theory going around that Gravik may be the son of Nick Fury, making him a Skrull-human hybrid. Regardless if that’s the case on not, there’s something more to their relationship than simply being opposing forces.
