9 major Stranger Things deaths ranked from least to most heartbreaking

1. Eddie Munson

After four seasons, you would think we would have been prepared for Eddie Munson’s inevitable death; however, that could not be further from the truth.

Every season of Stranger Things, there is always that one new character who is introduced, becomes an instant fan-favorite, and then meets an untimely and heartbreaking end all within the span of just a few short episodes. The writing was clearly on the wall from the start of the season, yet there was hope within us that the Duffer Brothers wouldn’t waste such an amazing character like Eddie by following the same pattern of past seasons and killing him before the season’s end.

Then came the finale.

Yes, we got to see Eddie die a hero’s death but the sheer devastation of watching Eddie die in Dustin’s arms in the finale literally broke us. From the circumstances surrounding his death to his final words to Dustin as he took his last breath, there was nothing more tragic than Eddie’s demise.

If you weren’t wrecked by Eddie’s death, I have no words as there is no denying Eddie’s death was the most heartbreaking death we’ve seen across any season of the show.

It’s going to be hard to imagine the show topping Eddie’s death in its final season and, truthfully, we’re not prepared to even entertain the idea of another character dying in such a tragic way as we continue to carry the trauma of Eddie’s death.
