5. “Loch Henry”
This was the weakest episode Black Mirror has produced. The ending was predictable and poorly executed, the majority of the characters were bland, and it lacked the essence of the show. It felt more like a standard murder mystery as opposed to what this show represents. People can find episodes like this on other programs, and they’re better done to boot.
As harsh as this may sound, it’s more than okay to skip this episode. You won’t miss anything. The only reason to watch “Loch Henry” is to say that you’ve seen the entire series.
Other than that, it’s not worth your time.
4. “Beyond the Sea”
If you told this writer that a Black Mirror episode featuring Rory Culkin, Kate Mara, and Josh Hartnett would be average, he wouldn’t believe you. All three of these performers have proven that they’re good at what they do, and that still comes across here. They weren’t bad, “Beyond the Sea” either. Unfortunately, this episode still fell flat.
Yet again, another predictable episode. What’s worse is that it started off well. David Ross (played by Hartnett) meeting a Charles Manson-like character (Rory Culkin) was a good scene. The problem is this is where the episode peaked, and this was at the beginning.
This one would have been better if the episode was shorter. Quick episodes were part of the appeal of Black Mirror. They get to the point quicker and make more effective points. The longer episodes hurt this season.
