3. Zachary Quinto

Okay, this was so hard to do, as I am a big fan of Zachary Quinto, but unfortunately, I have to say that he was perhaps my least favorite of the three primary Spocks. I do believe that Quinto embraced the role of Spock and took it very seriously that he was stepping into the shoes of a legend (Leonard Nimoy).

However, even as he took the role extremely seriously and brought that hyper-intelligence to the role that we expected, he also didn’t quite have the same gift for dry humor that Nimoy did. The way that Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner played off of each other as Spock and Kirk was next level. You could believe that at times they were enemies, and yet they were also very close friends.

There was no doubt that both men would sacrifice themselves for the other. And yet when we watched Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine play off of each other, they didn’t have that same spark. Simply put, there was just something missing from their interactions and a lot of it felt like it came from Quinto’s side.

Honestly, Zachary Quinto is a great actor and he has been brilliant in so many roles, but for some reason, his Spock just wasn’t as magical as we could have hoped for. And the fact that he really was one of the first people to step into the role for a live-action reboot after Nimoy probably didn’t help matters.
