4. Maki Zen’in

Like Toji, Maki Zen’in wasn’t born with sorcerer abilities. But rather than her heavenly restriction completely taking away her cursed energy as it did with Toji, her restriction gave her a little cursed energy to work with, hence why when she wears her glasses; she can see cursed spirits. And in addition to this, she uses cursed tools to help her wield her small amount of energy. All this to say, when you see Maki in her full form, it’s not because of her relying on supernatural abilities. That’s just her true, unfiltered strength at full display.

During the Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event, Maki defeated her opponent, Kasumi Miwa, so quickly that she was flabbergasted that anyone ever called Maki weak. The same went for her twin sister, Mai, as she also had to accept that her sister had her beat when it came to physical strength and agility at the event.

Maki’s intellect is also no match for most of her peers. Not because of skill, but because she can understand when a situation is beyond her control and runs for help. Others would try to contest the enemies, whereas Maki refuses to confuse courage with stupidity; something that, with her very few limitations, is nothing short of a benefit.

An all-around well-rounded individual, Maki proves that she doesn’t need an insane amount of cursed energy to put demolish her trials and tribulations. Her confidence in her skill is more than enough.

What could make Maki Zen’in stronger: Similar to Toji, it would be very interesting to see how much stronger Maki would be had she been born without a heavenly restriction or born into a corrupt clan that refused to let women rise to stronger ranks. Should these two roadblocks have been eliminated, Maki definitely would be even stronger than she is now.
