10. While the whole world was watched

Comic book: Superman: Sacrifice

Wonder Woman has repeatedly proven that she isn’t a character that should never be messed with. For some reason, villains keep thinking that they can stop her or, even worse, threaten the people she cares about. If you hurt her or her family, she won’t hesitate to kill you. Maxwell Lord found out how true this is in Superman: Sacrifice.

Maxwell Lord was controlling Superman and it came to Wonder Woman to take care of it. After neutralizing the Man of Steel, Wonder Woman ties up Maxwell with the Lasso of Truth. She asks him to release his control of Superman. He said he’d never let Superman go. Then she asks Maxwell how she can free her friend. Maxwell simply says, “Kill me.” In front of the world, Wonder Woman kills Maxwell Lord by snapping his neck.

Readers shouldn’t have been shocked that Wonder Woman killed Maxwell Lord. Unlike Batman and Superman, she’s never been completely against killing. She understands war and fighting better than most. Sometimes there’s no other way. This was one of those times.

The world saw one of the main members of the Justice League kill a man, but Wonder Woman would do it again if there was no other way.
