Extraño (Gregorio De La Vega) DCU
DC Comics’ history with LGBT characters had very troublesome beginnings but, with time, they have learned the error of their ways and have made changes to characters for the better. One, in particular, would be that of Extraño, who debuted back in 1988.
The character was a result of all the negative stereotypes that were made of gay men. This unfortunately lead to backlash from comic book fans about the hero which led to some more positive changes to the character.
Extraño is the first openly gay hero in DC comics and would come to be the founder and leader of the super team of Justice League Queer. Going by his birth name Gregorio De La Vega, he is known to have a vast knowledge of the supernatural and is a powerful magic user who has worked alongside the likes of Midnighter and Constantine.
Taylor Zakhar Perez has been open about his support for the LGBTQ+ community and even plays a character exploring his sexual identity in his latest film Red, White and Royal Blue. Perez would take on the role of Gregorio with much love and respect.
Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes) MCU
Ghost Rider is no stranger to the live-action treatment. We have had the iconic Nicolas Cage breathe life into the role of Johnny Blaze and most recently The Last Of Us star Gabriel Luna who played the Robbie Reyes version of the character in the Agents Of Shield series. Taylor could play the latter.
Robbie Reyes is the fifth character to take on the Ghost Rider mantle. Reyes origin story would make a thrilling series or film showcasing his vast abilities including pyrokinesis, demonic transfusion, teleportation, and use of his enchanted Dodge Charger and hellfire chain.
Growing up in East Los Angeles working as a mechanic at an auto body shop, Reyes tries to escape the threats of gang-infested streets but has his life completely altered when he encounters the spirit Eli Morrow who is attached to a Dodge Charger that Reyes was gunned down in and revived as the demonic flaming being known as Ghost Rider.
