Time-Travel

Comic book character: Booster Gold, Cable

Everyone has moments in their lives that they wish they could take back. Time travel would make it easy to fix them. However, altering the past comes with ramifications. Changing your life doesn’t just affect you. Something as simple as when you get somewhere could mean someone dies. It may seem dramatic but think about this. How many times have you left late only to see something tragic? Then you think to yourself, “That could have been me if I left two minutes earlier?” That’s an easy way to describe how moving throughout the time stream can mess things up.

That’s just the past. What happens if you look into the future? You can return to the past and win every bet, know what stocks to buy, and so much more. Nevertheless, the same problem arises. Your actions can have drastic consequences.

That’s not all. Sometimes moments are meant to happen. Booster Gold admitted that he tried to stop Joker from paralyzing Barbara Gordon (Batman: The Killing Joke). No matter what Booster did he couldn’t stop the event. Eventually, he gave up. That shows that some moments can’t be altered. The part of the past or future may not be the one you want, but it’s the one that has happened.
