11. Alex Danvers / Sentinel

The Girl of Steel may be National City’s savior, but who knows where she would be if she didn’t have big sister Alex Danvers to watch her back. The truth is that Alex has had Kara’s back since the beginning of her time in the skies as Supergirl, protecting her at all costs and ensuring that she lived to fight another day on many occasions.

But nourishing one of the world’s greatest heroes didn’t prevent her from becoming one in her own right. A trusted agent of the Department of Extranormal Operations, Alex diligently fought with the agency for years, becoming its director along the way. While there, she fought crime on the streets and battled corruption from within, taking on powerful figureheads who threatened to undermine her role as a director. And when the agency literally came crashing down, she joined her sister and her super friends on the battlefield full-time, becoming the superhero known as Sentinel.

In all honesty, Alex’s time as DEO Agent and Director far outshines her time as the hood-wearing Sentinel, but the heart, passion and determination to keep everyone around her safe is far more important than whether she was wearing a costume or not, and that means that Alex was, is and always will be one of National City’s greatest heroes.
