14. Leonard Snart / Captain Cold

Back when DC’s Legends of Tomorrow began, Leonard Snart was one of the most popular characters heading into the first season (the other being Sara Lance). The reason for that was the fact that DC’s Captain Cold had quickly proven himself to be a fan-favorite guest star on The Flash, with the lovable Rogue getting on surprisingly well with Barry Allen – in spite of Snart’s heinous actions in the past.

Snart was already on a redemption tour by the time he joined the Waverider, and Legends of Tomorrow was the next chapter in that saga. Of course, he brought his old frenemy and partner Mick Rory, a.k.a. Heatwave, with him, so a large portion of his time was spent keeping him in check and attempting to prevent him from going too far.

Their friendship was ultimately the driving force in Snart’s decision to sacrifice himself. That, and his desire to better himself after a surprisingly poignant conversation with Sara.

Captain Cold’s death was a shock and it made us all spend the next six seasons missing Wentworth Miller’s charismatic performance, but Snart went out in a blaze of glory, protecting his new friends in the way that a Legend should.
